We are a self-sustaining, value-based community guided by integrity, respect and trust, supporting at-risk youth in being responsible, contributing members of society.
Higher Ground Youth Challenge is a Colorado-based, non-profit organization working with at-risk youth to give them the chance to do more than dream. Our program incorporates a unique, two-pronged approach of a weeklong, outdoor, experiential camp and an ongoing mentoring program.
The youth we serve are teens, ages 13-16, that come from challenging situations and unfortunate circumstances where their guardians may be single parents, other family members, or may be entirely absent.
The six-day camp is held in the mountains outside of Estes Park, Colorado at Cal-Wood Education Center, where the teens get to leave behind their perceived limitations, labels, their overwhelming circumstances, and get a change to see their lives through new eyes. While there, our campers are physically and emotionally challenged through activities such as rock climbing, horseback riding, and whitewater rafting.

Throughout the week campers learn respect for themselves and others, and they build a supportive, open, and loving community amongst themselves. When they return home, they know that they have a support system available and ready to help guide them through the challenges of their daily lives.
HOW COULD YOU HELP ?
With your help will campers learn respect for themselves and others, and they build a supportive, open, and loving community amongst themselves.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“There is a connection and a real personal joy for me to see the improvement a child makes when they know that there is someone out there that they can talk to, and rely on to be there, when times get tough. This is my motivation to make sure that if I can help one kid make better decisions in his life, he can make better choices and have a much brighter future, for the rest of his life.“
Through the generous support of our partners, we have been able to send more and more kids to camp every year and to provide engaging activities through the mentoring program.
